Some 25 athletes turned out for the opening run of the cross-country season from club headquarters in Leasowe Road last Saturday.
Led by club captain, Brian Woolford, the Boys and Youths ran a timed circuit of the three mile course across the Bidston Marshes and were headed home by Dave Lockley from Johnny Jones, with a large group running together some 200 yards in arrears. From these it was noticeable that Ray Kay continues his return to form, with Dave Adair and Neil Hampson show's great improvement over the distance.
The juniors and Seniors took the 6 mile loop of Bidston Hill as their medicine for the afternoon and only two minutes separated the first runner from the last. It is proposed to run the same course today, as a race, with the intention of improving on last week's times.
