Wallasey Athletic Club captain and international marathon runner Brian Woolford maintains his fight back to top condition after a nagging leg injury curtailed his training for a number of weeks.
His 2nd placing in the Port Sunlight 15-mile road race last Saturday, although a reversal of last year's result when he won in record time, points to a return of form which will carry over to the rest of the team in time for the cross-country season.
With support from John Wright, Ron Barlow, Kevin Mather, Brian Charlton, Roy Parry and David Field, Wallasey A.C. are capable of winning the Northern Counties Championship this winter and this should be their primary aim above all personal ambitions.
