Running at Stewart Park, Middlesbrough last Saturday Wallasey Athletic Club senior team failed by only six points to gain third place, and finished in fifth position, being the first Liverpool & District team to finish.
Another interesting struggle took place between Wallasey and their local rivals Wirral A.C. with Wallasey again emerging victorious this time by a margin of nine points, Wirral finished 6th.
Ron Barlow and Brian Woolford both had excellent runs and were always up with the main leading bunch and finished in 12th and 15th positions respectively. Next man home for Wallasey was John Wright occupying 32nd position and perhaps not running quite as well as one would have hoped. In 53rd place was Roy Parry. John Young, running his best race of the season was the next Wallasey man to reach the finishing line in 89th place and scoring was completed by Brian Chalton in 109th position.
Today the Club are holding a sealed handicap race for all age groups, commencing from the club headquarters at 2.45 p.m. The race will be run over the Christmas Handicap course and all members intending to compete are asked to be prompt.
