Three Wallasey athletes in inter-counties championship race

Three of Wallasey A.C's County championship winning team at Port Sunlight a fortnight ago today travel to Bingley to represent Cheshire in the inter-counties championships.

John Wright, Ron Barlow and Brian Woolford will be competing in a race which many think represents a higher standard than the national championships, as every runner in the 300 strong field has gained his county place by his running in the recent championships. This race is therefore contested by the cream of this country's distance runners and a place in the first fifty reflects running of a high order.

The Liverpool & District Championships, which should have been run last Saturday were postponed owing to fog and will now take place on Saturday next. The venue is still over Liverpool Pembroke's course at Kirkby, with changing accommodation at Brookfield School (93 bus from Liverpool Pier Head).

Inquiries regarding membership of Wallasey A.C. will be welcomed by general secretary Matt Smith, 29- Beechwood Avenue, or Bob McCaig, 30 Taunton Road (telephone New Brighton 1632).
