In the Northern Counties 25-mile road relay, Wallasey Athletic Club failed to make any serious impact on the race.
A weakened team through injuries and other commitments meant the team of six was very weak, even the arrival of Pete Lewis from Durham failed to help the situation.
The race of six, four-mile stages was won for the second year by Bolton Utd Harriers, pipping local club Sutton Harriers on the final leg.
For Wallasey, Mike Whiteside ran the first leg returning home in 20th position a rather disappointing run, for Mike over this rather short distance.
Pete Lewis followed maintaining the position followed by Dave Lindsey who ran well to pull the team within striking distance of several teams, Dave Lockley ran well to gain seven places and take the team into 13th place.
Mike Teahan followed not showing his better form dropping three places and Dave Hughes pulled one place back on the final leg to give the team 15th place.
