Northern Junior & Youth Championships last Saturday at Blackburn. Terry Fleming's discus throw, in a very close contest, was one of the most outstanding of a number of fine performances. He was a little unfortunate to lose by a mere five inches.
In the 2,000 metres Steeplechase for juniors, Dave Lockley seemed to be in line for his first big race win, when he hit a barrier on the fourth lap. Even after losing at least six seconds he was still closing on the leaders at the end.

This Saturday a contingent of Wallasey athletes may visit Oldham A.C. to honour an invitation.
In the coming weeks Wallasey's distance runners will be competing in a varied programme of events which include the Blackpool road relay and Widnes Police Sports.
Apologies for any misrepresentation of the inclusion of Bolton A.C. in the local road relays. This was due to a misunderstanding.
