Broadgreen will be the Mecca of Liverpool & District runners, officials and supporters on Saturday next.
The occasion is the annual cross-country championship races of Liverpool & District. All the local clubs will be represented.
The splendid running of A. E. Frost in the recent West Lancs. Senior Race, when he finished second, has made him a challenger to the holder Norman Jones. Both runners are in Pembroke's team, and these with J. Johnstone, their club champion, should make the race for the individual title a thrilling one.
Pembroke are favourite for the team honours again. They will have big challengers in Liverpool Harriers and Sefton Harriers. The margin of points should be small.
The junior race, for runners over 18 and under 21 years of age, is an open one. W. H. Marsh, of Pembroke, is fancied to win. N. Marples (Wallasey A.C.), T. G. Downs (Sefton) and E. Jones (Liverpool University) will run him close. The teams these four runner represent will also fight it out for the team honours.
The youths' race of three miles always produces some new material, although the honours generally are won by the runners
