James defends cross-country title while McEneany takes ladies' honours.
Southport & Waterloo athlete James Tartt successfully defended his title in the Liverpool & District Cross-Country Championships on Sunday He was closely followed by Richard Burney (Liverpool Harriers), and in third place was former Liverpool Marathon winner John McCole.
In the ladies competition the honours were taken by Kim McEneany (Wallasey) with Aimee Bartley (Wirral) in second place. It was then another Wallasey runner Sallie Holt in third position.
In a tightly contested team competition, Liverpool Harriers finished ahead of Southport Waterloo and Wirral just pipped local rivals Wallasey for the Bronze medal.
Knowsley Harriers were then an excellent fifth place out of 13 clubs in their first season in the competition.
