A cross-country runner, called on to take the first lap in a 26 miles 385 yards relay race, owing to the non-arrival of his club mate, put up a record time when he covered the 3¼ miles in 16min. 34sec.
This was T. O'Mahoney, of Liverpool Harriers, running in the Liverpool & District Cross-Country Union's relay race in Sefton Park. O'Mahoney's time was six seconds faster than Glyn Jones's time a year ago.
The race was again won by Liverpool Pembroke in 2 hrs. 20min. 54sec. Liverpool Harriers being second in 2hrs. 24min. 10sec., and Wallasey 'A' third in 2hrs. 25min. 13sec. Other finishing times were: Wirral (2hr. 28min. 20sec.), Pembroke 'B' (2hr. 32min. 58sec.), Sefton (2hr. 33min. 42sec.), Waterloo (2hr. 36min. 55sec.), Wallasey 'B' (2hr. 39min. 35sec).
Boundary Harriers were disqualified owing to their last runner going off the course.
