Wallasey A.C. girls faced some of the finest female athletes in the country in the Women's Northern Cross-Country Championships in West Yorkshire.
Eight Wallasey girls were among the 300 strong field in the opening event, and as the leaders came into view for the first time Paula Simpson could be seen travelling smoothly in about 20th position, but so well was she running that by the finish she had moved through to 5th.
The scoring four was completed by excellent performances from Diane Senogles (146th), Claire Jones (148th) and young Sharon Thompson who finished 221st. Leanne Sloan, Karen Simpson, Janine Alkazaz and Debbie Evans all completed, the course well.
