Local athlete, Lynne Kennedy, of Wallasey Athletic Club, has shown outstanding form this year.
Back in February, the Huddersfield Polytechnic student gained fourth place in the British Polytechnics' Cross-Country Championships, followed by 11th place in the British
Colleges' and Forces' Cross-Country Championships, finishing the first of the Polytechnics' students.
Over Easter weekend, Lynne won two local road races: on Good Friday she ran the Southport 10km in 38 minutes. On Easter Monday, she ran the Springview 10 miles at Wigan in 61 minutes 54 seconds - a personal best.
In the British Polytechnics' Track Championships held on May 9 at Stoke, Lynne's form continued as she won the 3,000 metres in 10 minutes 30 seconds.
The following week, Lynne won the 3,000 metres once again, at Merseyside Women's' Track Championships, in a personal best time of 10 minutes 13.5 seconds.
Lynne then went on to represent British Polytechnics at Loughborough where she recorded a personal best time of four minutes 41 seconds for, 1,500 metres, a race which she also won.
Lynne's consistently good performances continued in the Liverpool Women's 10km race, where her time of 37 minutes 10 seconds gained her 11th place in a top-class field.
