Wallasey's newly-elected ladies' captain, Marie Burke, celebrated by winning a 25km road race at Winsford in a time of 1 hour 46 minutes. Marie followed this with 4th place at the Merseyside Women's championship in the 3000-metres held at Kirkby.
Other good performances at Kirkby came from Sarah Graves who finished 2nd in the under-13 girls' shot putt and Paula Simpson who recorded a personal best time of 2:46 for 800 metres.
The junior girls' 800 metres saw Joanne Johnson and Collette Winstanley clock 2:36 and 2:41 respectively. The sprinters also gave a good account of themselves with both Emma Derwent and Helene Wright narrowly failing to get into the medals in the finals.
