The Liverpool & District Cross-Country Championships witnessed the best ever team performances by Wallasey A.C. senior men.
First home for the club was Alec Boughey who finished 45th after a close contest with John Cottrell who was 49th. Pete Lonsdale who for two consecutive years has won the club's annual award as top senior over the cross-country season was 66th, while Bob Brimage held off the challenge of Gordon Rowe as the two finished 73rd and 76th respectively.
Dave Walton in 84th place completed the scoring to give a total score of 393 points 58 better than in the same race last year, and 214 points better than the year before.
The other seven Wallasey finishers were John Wright (88th), Graham Mabbs (114th), James Downey (117th), Nick Burke (122nd), Pete Griffiths (124th), Paul McQuade (132nd) and Paul Healey (157th).
