There were good performances from some of Wallasey A.C.'s younger female sprinters at a Stretford open meeting. Cheryl Dyer was a convincing winner of her heat in the intermediate girls, while there were good runs from Joanne Johnson and Emma Derwent in the junior girls.
Emma was third in her heat with a time of 13.8 seconds which was 0.1 seconds outside her best. Alek Boughey ran a personal best of 15 mins. 21 secs. For 5,000 metres, the distance at which he has been selected to represent the Ministry of Defence in a Crystal Palace match, following his double bronze medal winning performance at 1,500m and 3,000m at the Ministry of Defence championships.
Keith Simpson set a personal best of 2:04.3 in the 800m, finishing just behind James Downey who was given the same time. In a separate heat Pete Smith had one of his best runs of the season in recording 2:07.6.
