It has become evident, from such events as the Wirral Marathon and the increasing number of track-suited figures on the streets, that more and more people of all ages are taking up running for exercise, competition, or for fun.
It is proposed to form a running club to act as an information service for the previously 'unattached' non-club runner.
There is no intention to 'steal' athletes from Wirral or Wallasey Athletic Clubs; rather, the new club would cater for the runner, who does not wish to compete at a high level or does not have the time to attend regular training sessions. Instead, it will form an incentive for new runners and those who wish to find training / jogging partners. Serious runners will be welcomed, but the club will recognise the first-claim of any other athletic club.
If you are interested in the formation of a Wirral Roadrunners' Club (actual name to be decided at the first meeting), or have any, constructive comments, please telephone 051-638 7466 at any time to show your support. A club sponsor would be very welcome.
