This weekend, Sunday, to be exact, sees the female section out in force at Sherdley Park in St. Helens. The occasion being the Merseyside Women's cross-country championships.
Also on Sunday there is a race in France and five male club members will be competing over the country there. Both sections hope to bring back something by competing well, if training is anything to go by then they will.
The second Liverpool & District Cross-Country League race will be held on Saturday afternoon and a Merseyside league schools race will be held on Saturday morning.
A busy and varied weekend indeed for our athletes and one during which it is hoped, to perform well as individuals and as a team.
Last Tuesday, as a result of a sponsored run by the club, a cheque for over £130 was handed over to the headmaster of Claremount School. This represented 50 per cent of the total collected and our members who took part in the 15-mile run can be rightly proud of themselves. We hope that the money will provide as much benefit to Claremount School, as it undoubtedly will, as does the Wallasey Athletic Club's share benefit it.
