Former Olympian Curtis Robb played the anchor role as Liverpool Harriers finished third in the Northern Cross-Country Championship at Roundhay Park, Leeds.
Liverpool were led by ninth-placed Jonny Mellor, with Richard Burney (17), John McCole (36), Mark Keeley (46) and Luke Reddy (68) providing the spine of the team before Robb (73) edged out Rob Dewhirst for the final team place and a 28-point advantage over Altrincham for the bronze medal.
Wirral A.C. (23), Southport Waterloo (24), for whom Rob Berry was 16th, and St. Helens Sutton (26) had a close battle for local pride. Liverpool Running Club (32) and Wallasey A.C. (36) also finished complete teams.
