Wallasey Athletic Club got off to a good start in the new track season with four good wins in the meeting at St. Helens on Sunday.
Mike Tunstall won the boys 800 metres and 1,500 metres in times of 2min 18.6 sec. and 4.44.1. Another Wallasey boy, Tommy Bond, justified his trip with a fifth place in the 800 metres.
In the older youth's age group, Roly Murtagh showed the value of hard winter training when he won his 800 metre race by 25 yards in 2:08.6.
Margaret Ashcroft, the only lady running, won her 800
metre race in 2.25.1. to cap a fine winter cross-country season.
All non-members who want to be considered for team races later in the season should start training immediately. Details of training nights can be gained from Mr D. Hanna, 638 0296.
