Last Saturday at Liverpool Transport Sports, Denis Dickinson, of Wallasey Athletic Club, achieved a well-deserved success by winning the open mile event off the 165 yard mark in 4 mins. 16 secs.
Last Monday evening at the Tower Athletic Ground a large number of local athletes derived pleasure and instruction from a lecture and coaching in middle distance running by Tommy Hampson, the present Olympic 800 metres record holder.
Next Monday evening Jack Pozzi, formerly, Northern Counties long jump record holder, will instruct in the technique of the long jump. On Wednesday, Tommy Hampson returns to coach in the 440 yards distance and relay race technique; while on Friday, Barney Kivlin, formerly British Army representative and Northern Counties' champion in the hop, step and jump will be instructing and demonstrating the high jump and the hop, step and jump, at which event Kivlin is the present Cheshire champion. All active athletes are welcome at these coaching sessions.
