There are prospects of a good race at Leasowe this Saturday when Wallasey Athletic Club run off their club Consolation Handicap over a 4½ miles course of road and shore.
Members of the club who have won awards during the current cross-country season will be on their penalised marks, whilst non-winners receive maximum allowances, making it almost certain that a previous loser will finish first.
Back-marker on actual scratch, will be John Edwards, who has had a grand season's running and is believed to be the only runner in the country with a double hat-trick in his club's senior cross-country championship one each side of the war.
A notable absentee will be R. Johnston the Wallasey and Liverpool & District youths' champion, who is temporarily unfit due to an injured foot. He is reported to be getting fit again. The start will be at 3-30 p.m.
