The Liverpool & District Cross-Country Championships take place at Woolton this Saturday, commencing at 2-30 with the youths' (under 18) race over 3 miles followed by the junior (18-21) 6 miles and the senior championship at 9 miles.
Both youths' and junior races provide for not more than seven in each club to run with four to count as a team, whilst in the senior 10 run and six count as team.
Wallasey Athletic Club has full teams in each of the three categories and the youths will be captained by R. Johnston, last season's brilliant Novice Champion.
A. Simpson, one of the club's most dependable runners, captains the juniors, with club captain J. Edwards in charge of the senior side. Whilst there are one or two good individual runners in the Wallasey teams, stress has been laid in training on team work, and provided each runner can reproduce his best form there is every reason to hope that the Wallasey club will give its best collective performance in the championships.
