After a break of eight years the West Lancashire Cross-Country Association are staging their Novice Team Championship over a five mile course at St. Helens to-day.
Seventeen teams, representing 12 clubs, have been entered and a good race should ensue. Wallasey Athletic Club will be running two teams, one being captained by R. E. Young, son of the former Wallasey champion, and the other led by R. F. Hubbard. Seven run in a team, and four count.
As Wallasey ran 2nd on the last occasion this championship was held, the teams to-day will be all out to bring the title to Wallasey for the first time.
The club is travelling to St. Helens on the 1:20 p.m. train from Lime Street. Another train at 2:10 will just about get intending spectators to the venue at Bobby's Lane, Eccleston (U.G.B. Ground) in time.
