He has been running for less than a year but Jamie Pullin is already proving to be a strong rival for Merseyside athletes.
Pullin, 29, joined Wallasey Athletic Club in February following a knee operation. 'The physio recommended I should start running to try to build up some strength so I decided to join a club and see how I got on,' he said.
And the former Army man is now running six times a week, clocking up around 40 miles. Pullin's dedicated training regime is paying off and in the latest Borders League race in Tattenhall, which sees top runners from clubs across the region battling it out, Pullin came 11th in a personal best time over 10k of 34:44. He was also the first Wallasey man home. Pullin is now training for the next race on the Borders League calendar which will take place at the end of January.
Meanwhile, in the annual Wirral seaside runs, Pullin came sixth in a time of 16:51 - his best over three miles.
