Despite being handicapped by a torrential downpour and the unaccountable absence of five top athletes, Wallasey A.C. still managed to place third from ten clubs competing at the Liverpool Parks inter-club competition.
The following evening saw club members in action as St. Helens were the Milk Marketing Board were promoting a 4x3 mile road relay which Bolton won in 51 minutes 53 secs., Wirral A.C. were second in 51 mins. 59 secs. and Wallasey A.C. 3rd with 52 mins. 54 secs. At Port Sunlight, Ian Wilson ran a personal best time once again, this time in the half mile in which he was placed third in 2 mins. 20.8 secs. whilst in the same race Les Watcham was fourth in 2 mins. 28.2 secs., Colin McDonnell fifth 2:24.2., Teddy Oldham sixth 2:26.4 and Eric Griffith eighth 2:31. In the sprints Eric Kendrick did 11.8 and Ian Wilson 12 secs. to be placed third and fourth respectively, whilst in the last race of the evening Les Watcham was seventh in 11 mins. 28.2 secs. in the two miles.
Entries close today for the club camp which is to be held at Foel Glap Farm, Denbigh next weekend. The cost is 15s. and those interested should contact Mr. C. W.
