An energetic coaching sub-committee of the Wallasey Athletic Club has been formed under the chairmanship of Bob McCaig.
Other members include Len Platt, former international long-jumper; Carl Gee well-known in Cheshire as a field event exponent and present discus champion: John Wright present Liverpool & District Cross-Country Champion and notable long distance track runner, and Pete White, who has recorded the fastest mile time ever by a Wallasey athlete. These five are to be assisted by several of the more experienced senior runners and weekly coaching sessions will be maintained in the future.
The first of these is to be held on Tuesday next at club headquarters near to Leasowe Road playing fields, commencing at 7:00 p.m. All members old and young alike are requested to attend and in addition the club extend a cordial invitation to any person over the age of 14 years, either male or female to attend if they are interested in any branch of athletics.
The Cheshire County A.A.A. are promoting a road relay race to be staged at Macclesfield on May 9. A club team will be entered for the event.
