Owing to inclement weather the Lever Trophy scheduled for last Saturday afternoon was postponed until the following Monday evening.
Due to this unfortunate situation Wallasey Athletic Club were unable to field their full team and consequently had a poor turn out. Ron Barlow, C. Gee, M. Hargreaves and H. Jeffreys all scored points for Wallasey Athletic Club.
Ron Barlow, after battling his way along in the junior mile against W. Bennett of Wirral A.C. was beaten by inches in a photo finish after both runners had sprinted the last two hundred yards to the tape. They were both credited with a time of four minutes, thirty point six seconds.
Carl Gee also did well in the discus, with a throw of one hundred feet, ten inches, to gain second place.
In the ladies' section, H. Jeffreys, in her first major event, came fourth in the discus with a throw of seventy-nine feet, four inches. M. Hargreaves, also a first-timer in competitive athletics, was placed fourth in the long jump.
