On Saturday, November 5th, the Wallasey schools and Wallasey youths' cross-country championships are being promoted from the club headquarters in Leasowe Road.
In previous years Moreton Secondary Modern School have been to the fore in gaining the team awards but the standard of competition for this race has improved considerably and the Moreton boys will have to be in top form to retain their pre-eminence.
On the following Saturday the 11th annual Waterloo Road Race will take place. This race is developing into one of the major road races in the North of England.
Today Wallasey Athletic Club have a league fixture against Liverpool Boundary Harriers and Liverpool Harriers at Aintree. For theses races a team of both junior and senior are allowed to compete. Last year as in previous years the club had to rely on mainly all juniors to complete the team but as most of the juniors are now doing National Service the need for more seniors to turn out is essential to the club. There will also be a run for the boys and youths. The travelling arrangements are to meet at Seacombe Ferry at 1:45 p.m. or on Liverpool Landing Stage at 2 p.m. prompt.
