Roy Parry, Ron Barlow, Roy Shaw and Bill Farrell took the first four places in the friendly fixture against the cyclists on Boxing Day.
Although it was fine weather for the race, the course was in bad condition following the heavy overnight rain. Altogether nineteen runners took part and Brian Woolford and Ian Mclvor finished sixth and seventh for a total of 23 points.
The cyclists were placed 5, 9, 14, 17, 19 and 20 - making 84 points.
It is hoped, to make this an annual event as it was enjoyed by those who took part, but although the cyclists made a plucky attempt to win, it was obvious that insufficient hard surface had been included. But as this race was in the nature of a 'try-out' any faults can be remedied for the future.
For Cheshire championships today, members meet at Seacombe Ferry 12:30 p.m. or Birkenhead Town Hall 12:45 p.m.
