Wallasey A.C. last Saturday were one of ten teams contesting the annual novice championship for the West Lancashire area, which this year was, held at Warrington.
Although Alan Clarke and Dave Standfast both ran excellent races to finish eighth and fourteenth respectively Wallasey only succeeded in being placed seventh in the team positions.
In a race in which four runners counted for each team, Wallasey's other scorers were Ray Scammell 42nd and Dave Johnson 46th.
Wallasey's four scoring runners on this occasion all ran well to form but had they been supported by several other, eligible runners in the club our team would no doubt have finished in a much higher position.
Next Saturday the club will stage their annual Christmas handicap over a 3½ mile course. Every runner receives a prize and the main idea is to take part rather than gain laurels.
This Saturday, Wallasey A.C. entertain Sefton Harriers and Liverpool Boundary Harriers at their Leasowe Road headquarters commencing 3 p.m. prompt.
