Wallasey A.C. were defeated by Waterloo Harriers in an inter-club track fixture on Tuesday evening at Waterloo.
Wallasey's main individual successes were achieved by Roy Parry in the junior quarter mile, Matt Smith in the senior high jump and Margaret Collings, who scored a good double in the women's 100 yards and high jump.
Second places were gained by Don Anderson in the junior mile, J. Corlett in the junior 100 yards, and Ray Owen in the discus, while third places were occupied by Don Anderson in the junior quarter mile, Roy Parry in the junior mile, Ray Owen in the high jump, Bryan Baird in the boy's 100 yards, L. Cording in the senior 100 yards, Alan Clarke in the mile, John McGill in the junior 100 yards and Brenda Humphries in the women's discus.
Frank Ledward took part in the Windsor to Chiswick marathon last Saturday in which Olympic hope Jim Peters recorded such an incredible time. Although short of training, Ledward finished the 26¼ miles course in the creditable time of 3 hours 20 minutes.
Wallasey 'miler' P. Morant recently put in some good running in the North Wales championships at Caernarvon being placed third in the fast time of 4 minutes 30 seconds.
