Last Saturday the above club held a run from headquarters. Owing to the condition of the country on account of the weather it was thought best to give it a "miss."
Two packs were sent out, each traversing the same course - along Seaview-road and Grove-road to Sea-road, and thence along the shore to Leasowe, returning the same way.
As is well known, the Liverpool & District Cross-Country Championship races take place this afternoon at Bebington. The men who are to represent the club in the junior race are now all in good form, and all being well Wallasey should manage to win, although they have a very good team to beat in "Liverpool Boundary." However, Wallasey have gone through this season so far without being beaten, and those who are representing the club this afternoon are expected to maintain this record.
With regard to the individual championship, Bob Young, Wallasey's club champion, is one of the favourites, as also is T. J. Brookes, the ex-club champion. They both, however, have two very good men to beat in L. Drinkwater, last year's winner, and W. Wharton, who created such a sensation in the St. Helens cross-country championship a few weeks ago. W. H. Begg, of Boundary, who was third two years ago, when the race was held at Hooton, will also have to be reckoned with.
