Last Saturday the club journeyed to Upton, making the Eagle and Crown Hotel their headquarters for the afternoon. The weather was fine though inclined to be foggy, and the runners enjoyed a pleasant spin over about seven miles of new country.
The attendance was disappointing, probably owing to the inconvenient train service, but every one welcomed the change of country and voted the meeting a success.
After the run and a substantial tea, to which everyone did full justice, the company spent a most enjoyable evening in mirth and song, the inimitable Bob Young presiding at the piano with his usual success.
An ordinary run will take place from Thorndale Farm, Wallasey-road, to-day (Saturday) when it is expected a number of the hopefuls will be livening the pace in anticipation of the 5 mile handicap next week. The latter event will commence at 3.30 p.m. prompt, and all competitors are requested to be at the club's headquarters by 3.15 at the latest. This will be the first handicap held by the club since March, 1914, so it is likely to attract a great deal of local interest, and without doubt there will be a good attendance present to see the "finish", as some very good sport is promised.
