The Club championship was held on Saturday last from Wallasey headquarters Harrison Park, over a course of about 8 miles, two dozen runners turning out.
The result was as follows:-1, R. Henderson, time 46min. 35secs.; 2, A. Macmaster, 49min. 5secs.; 3, W. Pennington, 49min. 50secs.; 4, J. Brown, 50min.
The Captain, Hal Liddle, was unable to run, having received rather nasty cuts through falling in the Liverpool & District championships. The winner has the makings of a wonderful runner, being under 18 years of age. The merits of the run can readily be understood when the fastest rime previously registered over this course (by senior runners of the district and further afield) is in the region of 48 minutes. The going was ideal, of course:
Sealed Handicap result:- 1, J. Brown, actual time 50.0, handicap time 46.00 ; 2, A. Elliott, 51.45, 47.00; 3, H. Prenton, 54.5, 47.20; 4, W. Pennington, 49.50, 47.20 (dead heat).
The actual 2nd in the handicap was R. Henderson, winner of the championship with a handicap of 20 seconds start from scratch, but this prize he generously forwent. The branch championship of North Liverpool Gym and Wallasey will be held on Saturday, 22nd March, from the Blue Anchor, Aintree, and Harrison Park, Wallasey, respectively.
