For this Saturday afternoon's Wallasey Schools' Cross-Country Championship over two miles at Leasowe, more than 80 entries, including a strong team from Moreton Secondary Modern School, present holders of the A.G. Nicholson challenge trophy, have been received.
A smaller field, including D. T. Webster, Wallasey Grammar School, Victor Ludorum of 1948, will contest the Youths' Championship over 3 miles, and this race will be run first, starting at 3-15 p.m.
At Woolton last Saturday afternoon, Liverpool Harriers were hosts to Wallasey Athletic Club and Sefton Harriers. There was no race; in good conditions a fast pack of seniors covered 5½ miles of country; whilst a pack of juniors and novices ran more slowly over 3½ miles. In the senior run Wallasey's John Arkless, Bob Johnston and Eric Foster finished in the first five men home, with Harold Thompson and Arnold Dinsdale close behind.
