Manchester Athletes Score in Port Sunlight Team Race

Threatening weather kept the attendance at the joint open meeting of the Port Sunlight and Wirral Athletics Clubs held at the former's ground, Lower Bebington on Saturday afternoon, to small proportions, and the sport was not up to the standard set by these clubs in the past.

The big event was the two miles team race, and the absence of Birchfield Harriers, the holders, was disappointing. The race was won by Broughton Harriers and A.C. who beat the Sefton Harriers "A" Team by eight points to thirteen.

H. F. Jarvis, Broughton H., was the first man home.

The two heats of the 880 yards were run in 1min. 57 1-5sec., but in the final J. Crumbie, of Pembroke, improved by 2sec, on his previous running and won by two yards from J. J. Rea, Wirral A.C.

F. Howard, Liverpool H. and A.C. got the better of a close finish in the 100 yards open, beating E. Rippon, of Wallasey A.C. by inches but the latter was compensated by winning the 220 yards.
