On Saturday last West Cheshire H., Wallasey H. & A.C. and the University AC met at Bromborough Pool and raced over a six miles course, starting from the Village Hall and encircling Eastham Woods.
Strange to say, the "going" was fairly easy until nearing home, when close upon a mile of exceptionally heavy plough was encountered, which caused a few alterations in the van, but E. G. Montgomery (West Cheshire), who had led from the start, held his position undauntedly to the end. The "points" worked out thus:-
West Cheshire: E. G. Montgomery 1, G. A. Walker 3,. G. H. Grant 4, A. Porter 5, G. Smith 11; total 24.
Wallasey: P. Scott 2, W. Raley 8, Broomhead 9, A. E. Ladyman 10, J. P. Eivers 12; L total 42.
University: Fairley 6, Ashburn 7, Mitchell 20, Bridgewater 22, Cossett 24; total 79.
Afterwards a most enjoyable tea and an excellent concert were provided the success of which was largely due to Mr. J M. Harris, and, Mr. A. G Nicholson, who presided, on behalf of all who participated, ably thanked Mr. Harris for his kindness and hospitality.
