At a scrutiny meeting of the Northern Cross-Country Association, held at the Grosvenor Hotel, Manchester, last evening, the qualifying teams for the Senior and Junior Championships, to be decided at Haydock Park on Saturday next, were passed.
The Senior race, which comprises thirteen teams, will he run over distance of ten miles, and this year there will be about 700 yards of plough on each circuit to negotiate, rather more than has been experienced on previous occasions. The teams to compete are follows: 12 Salford Harriers, 2 Bolton United Harriers, 10 Crewe Harriers & A.C., 3 Warrington A.C., 11 Sutton Harriers and A.C., 5 Wirral A.C., 7 Hallamshire Harriers & A.C., 1 Leeds St. Mark's Harriers, 13 Wibsey Park A.C. 4 Rotherham Harriers, 9 Blaydon Harriers, 6 Durham City Harriers, and 8 Darlington Harriers.
The junior race over distance of seven miles, and the following teams were confirmed: 18 Leigh Harriers, 4 Manchester A.C., 16 Salford Harriers, 11 Royton Harriers, 15 Hugh Oldham Harriers, 6 Bury A.C. or Adelphi Lads' Club, 1 St. Helens Sacred Heart, 5 Runcorn Tally-ho, 10 Wallasey A.C., 19 Ravenhead Harriers, 9 St. Helens Recreation Harriers, 3 Northwich Harriers, 20 Hallamshire Harriers, 12 Leeds East Ward Harriers, 23 Swinton United Harriers, 7 Wakefield Trinity Harriers, 24 Sheffield United Harriers, 8 Wibsey Park A.C., 21 Heaton Harriers, 2 Gateshead Congregational, 22 Spennymoor and District Harriers, 14 Elswick Harriers, 13, Blaydon Harriers, and 17 Darlington Harriers.
