Lancashire now hold the record for the greatest number of consecutive wins - previously held by Staffordshire for 5 wins 1929-1933. Mike Turner for Lancashire was 3rd behind winner Tim Johnston, Cambridgeshire, and Mel Batty, Essex, with Ron Hill 5th and Mike Freary 8th giving Lancashire 3 men in the first ten.
The remaining members of the team were Brian Hall 30th, D. Hopkinson 43rd and Dave Swarbrick 44th giving Lancashire a total of 133 points - just 10 less than Warwickshire.
The members of the Wallasey club who were not racing met at club H.Q. for the usual Saturday afternoon training runs. It wasn't until all the members had gone out training that the cold wind brought with it some very heavy rain. This made most of the training run a battle to keep warm and to dry out as much as possible once the rain stopped.
At the present moment the senior team is rather depleted, Brian Woolford and Roy Parry are giving their injuries chance to heal properly Kevin Mather is still not yet running with the senior team but it is hoped that he will be able to join their numbers soon. Carl Gee will not - unfortunately - be able to
run for the club in the West Lancs Championships, January 30 at Sherdley Park so the senior team tor the first time for a few seasons is to be under strength with only 5 runners - 6 members required for a complete team. The boys' and youths' teams are both strong in numbers particularly the boys' team - whilst the junior team are also down on numbers.
The club is always open Saturdays 2-4.30 p.m. and Monday and Thursday 7.30-9 p.m. when new members will be welcome to come down to the H.Q. in Leasowe Road and join in with club members in training.
