Ron Barlow had a very good run over the 6-mile course at Sherdley Park to win comfortably for Wallasey A.C., John Wright improved his previous week's performance by finishing 4th, David Field and Mark Aldridge brought up the Wallasey contingent in 37th and 42nd positions respectively.
John Hughes found the going tough and retired with two miles left to go. It seems a shame that a club or Wallasey's standing could only turn out five athletes on such a fine course as Sherdley Park.
It is noted with regret that Brian Woolford has been told to withdraw from athletics for a couple of weeks while he is under doctor's orders. It is hoped that, Brian will be back in top form, soon and that he will be back with Barlow and Wright before the season has progressed much further.
